The body of Universal Yancey was discovered around 11:47 a.m., Monday, Sept. 30, in the area of 1 Atlantic St., said Rowena White, spokesperson for the Bridgeport Police Department.

Police had asked the public last week to be on the lookout for Yancey following the attempted stabbing of his girlfriend on Thursday, Sept. 26, on Fairfield Avenue, White said.

The woman, who survived the attack, is listed in serious, but stable condition at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Following the stabbing, Yancey, who had an outstanding warrant for attempted murder, had disappeared and police had warned that he may be armed and dangerous.

Detectives are still investigating the manner and cause of Yancey's death, White said.
